Family Connections – MN family photographer

My goal with family sessions is to create and capture real moments.  You’d think to capture a real moment, you’d have to sit back and wait for said moment to happen, but when you have limited time, you have to make those moments happen!  To do that, I always start with the “looking at the camera smiling” family photo.  I can usually get that within a couple minutes with a few smile making tips.  Once I know I have some great classic family shots, the games begin!  We play games for the whole session, short little fun games that get the whole family interacting with each other, creating real, actual authentic moments to capture.  That’s why the connections look so real in the photo – it’s because they ARE.  Here are just a few from a recent family session.

Kari Layland

Thank you for visiting! I love what I do, and am honored to share it with you! I've been a photographer for 12 years and am loving it! I started out working in studios where I gained experience while learning and developing my skills independently. I've taken various classes on a variety of photography related topics to enhance what I'd already learned from experience. I began working on location independently part time in 2001 with dreams to open my own studio down the road. After I became mom to my first daughter Nina in 2005, I decided to take another big step and go full time with my business. I'm so glad I did!
